Effect of Medication
Generic Propecia is used to effectively treat male pattern baldness or hair loss in men.
Generic Propecia is effective for balding on the top of the head (crown) and mid scalp. Receding hairlines may not respond to the treatment.
Generic Propecia lowers the level of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the scalp. Lower levels of dihydrotestosterone inhibit the degrading of hair follicles that tends to occur in male pattern baldness.
Generic Propecia does not work for everyone. Many men experience hair regrowth from using generic Propecia, other men experience no further hair loss and some men do not benefit from the medication.
Generic Propecia must not be taken by women or children.
How To Take Generic Propecia
Generic Propecia should be taken as directed. For best results, take 1 tablet orally once per day.
Drug Class
Generic Propecia is classed as a 5a reductase inhibitor drug.
Drug Dosage
The recommended daily dosage for Generic Propecia 1 mg is one tablet per day. Generic Propecia may be taken with food or between meals. Generic Propecia should be taken daily on consecutive days for at least three months in order to begin to see benefits.
Overdose
If you have accidentally taken too much Generic Propecia or feel that you have overdosed, seek medical advice.
Storage
Keep medications in a cool, dry place where the temperature is between 15- 30 degrees C. Heat and damp can damage some medications.
Keep medications where children cannot reach them.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Generic Propecia must not be taken by women or children.
Pregnant women, in particular, must take care not to handle crushed or broken Tabs since the active ingredient, finasteride can cause genital abnormalities in the unborn baby.
Do not take Generic Propecia if you are allergic to finasteride.
Generic Propecia causes a reduction in prostate specific antigen levels (PSA). If your PSA levels increase while taking generic Propecia, you should be assessed for possible prostate cancer.
Men over 55 taking generic Propecia may be at greater risk of developing high level prostate cancer.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Possible Serious Side Effects:
- Allergic reaction (closing of throat or swelling of tongue)
Less Serious Side Effects:
- Reduced libido
- Impotence
- Decreased volume of ejaculate
Men over 55 years of age
If you are over 55 years of age, you may be at greater risk of developing high level prostate cancer from taking this medication.
