A study conducted by the Australian Centre for Sexual Health at St Luke’s Hospital in Sydney, set out to test the effectiveness of higher dosages of Viagra for the treatment of men with chronic ED. Over 50 men were selected for the clinical trial, all of whom were unable to achieve an erection after taking a standard 100mg Viagra dose. The participants were given increasing strengths of up to 200mg of Viagra over a period of one month.

After the treatment concluded, the subjects of the study were evaluated to see how much the firmness of their erections had improved with higher medication dosages. The results showed that the men who took 150mg of Viagra showed an improvement of 46%, while the men who took 200mg of Viagra, showed a 69% improvement. 

However, up to 60% of the men in the study experienced some side effects after taking the maximum dosage of Viagra 200mg. Those side effects included dizziness, nasal congestion, blurred vision and headaches. The conclusion of the clinical trial was that higher dosages of Viagra did improve the erections of those men with severe ED.
