Privacy and confidentiality

We respect your privacy. The personal information you provide is collected in strict confidence, is used for our internal purposes only, and is not shared with any other parties. This page explains what that means in practice — including on the packaging that arrives at your door.

What we collect and why

We collect what an order needs and no more: the name and address a parcel must be sent to, an email address to confirm the order and send tracking, and the details required to process payment. Your email address is also what carries your returning-customer discount, as described on discount coupons.

You do not need to create an account to order — see returning customers. That is a deliberate choice: an account would mean storing more about you than the transaction requires.

Who sees it

Your information is for our internal use. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to third parties for marketing. The unavoidable exception is the practical one: the details needed to deliver a parcel have to reach the people who deliver it.

How it is protected

We use appropriate physical, electronic and administrative procedures to protect personal information from loss and unauthorised access. Our website is encrypted — the padlock shown by your browser indicates that the connection between you and this site is protected, so what you type here cannot be read in transit.

Discretion where it is most visible

Privacy is not only a database question. Orders arrive in a plain, secure padded envelope with nothing on the outside identifying the contents, the products or the nature of the shop. For many customers this is the part of privacy that actually matters, which is why it is stated here as well as on delivery.

Questions about your data

If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it removed, email us from the address you ordered with and ask. You do not need to give a reason.
